    PLA/010 – Natural Infrastructure Officer (European Marine Site CIL Project)
     
    Ballard House, Plymouth.
    Fixed Term Contract (3 years from start date)
    37 hours per week
    Grade E-F & H-I (appointing at Grade E (£21,745 to £23,935)
     
    Are you passionate about the MARINE environment? Would you like to join an energetic and lively team implementing £250,000 of recreational management measures for the Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries European Marine Site?

    Plymouth City Council is coordinating the delivery of the ‘European Marine Site Managing Recreational Impacts Programme’. This £250,000 three year project will deliver a baseline monitoring, assessment, education and awareness programme for those marine recreation activities which are known to have the potential to impact on the Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries European Marine Site. We are therefore looking for someone to help with the delivery of this project which will involve:

    Working with the Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum to deliver sustainable management of the tidal waters of Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries European Marine Site (EMS).
    ·       Assisting with the development of a robust baseline monitoring system for the marine environment;
    ·       Delivering specific actions plans for those recreational activities known to have the highest potential for damaging the sensitive species and features of the EMS (to include angling, crab tiling, sailing, diving)
    ·       Assisting with the delivery of a shared GIS system for use by all licensing authorities;
    ·       Delivering a programme of information boards and multimedia messages on the marine environment.
     
    The individual will need to demonstrate:
    ·       An appropriate qualification in the natural environment and a passion for the marine environment;
    ·       Knowledge and understanding of marine environmental legislation and guidance.
    ·       Ability to prioritise and manage the individual’s work load according to set deadlines.
    ·       Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
    ·       Project management and community based working knowledge would be desirable.
    ·       Ability to work as part of a team and to work towards deadlines;
    ·       Good communication skills and knowledge of using PC applications including Microsoft Office and GIS mapping systems.
