Funding and Grant Thanks
The PPCA, this year was awarded 2 grant/ funding opportunities.
The First was thanks to our Club President Terry Calcot who managed to get a successful bid in to the Devonport Royal Dockyard Employee Trust which enabled us to purchase 4 new kayaks and associated fittings to support our growing junior section.
The Second was thanks to Andy Nicholls and Damean Miller who put a bid in for a grant from Devon Community Foundation. This was to secure smaller equipment like Buoyancy aids and Cags for the youth members and local scout groups who we offer taster sessions too. We were extremely pleased to be awarded the whole amount we asked for from the Plymouth Trinity Fund meaning we could purchase 24 new Cags, 24 BA’s and 24 new spray decks.

Spring and Summer Program (April to September)
Saturday paddles both sea kayak and recreational run all year round. But our evening programes run from Mid April until end of September. On Tuesdays we offer training up to BCU 3 star in kayaking and Canoeing. Friday evenings we run Open Canoe recreational paddles. Other evenings and weekends we run taster sessions, youth paddles for the club and also local scout, guide and youth groups. Please see our club calendar or the newsletter for details of what is on.
Winter Program (October to March)
Due to lack of daylight in the evenings we are limited to only paddling weekends. But you don’t think that stops us do you? We are almost as active over the Winter months as we are over Spring to Autumn. Every Saturday we run Sea paddles (weather permitting). Some are longer sea kayak trips other short paddles in general purpose kayaks. October through to March on Sundays (and some Saturdays) we run white water kayaking trips on local rivers such as the Dart, Tavy or Walkham. Also for club members we run a series of swimming pool sessions for practicing those difficult skills in a warm safe environment. More info.
All of these events will be published in the newsletter and in the calendar, so remember to keep checking, and keep paddling.
