    Hi All
We’ve had a few sessions recently where we have haven’t matched paddlers to coached sessions or coaches to sessions as smoothly as normal. We have still managed to arrange peer paddles to cover these sessions.
We’ve hopefully got this sorted for the rest of the Summer / Autumn season but it is a good time to point out the following.
The club is run entirely by unpaid volunteers who give up their time for the benefit of it’s members.
We have approx 150 members yet I see the same core of people stepping up to assist with our organisation and outward facing events.
We need more members to become coaches to ease the load on the current team, with some financial assistance being available from the club to help fund training.
The post of Assistant Club Leader has been vacant for several seasons now, and in addition I’m worried that when our current Club Leader steps down at the end of this season we will struggle to find a replacement.
This is also the case with our Youth Development committee member who has given notice that he too will be stepping down.

Can I therefore ask that you all consider how you can assist with the running of the clubs events, or even consider training to become a coach / leader or standing for a position on the Committee.
Now would be a good time to speak to existing Committee members to find out what their role entails ( descriptions also can be found on the website ) or perhaps attend a Committee meeting as an observer.

Please feel free to speak to any of our team of Coaches, Leaders and Committee members on any of the above.

    Thx, Mark ( Chair )

Following some requests from members about their potential ‘leader / coach pathway’ I have changed the link from our website found under “Coaching+Leadership” on our toolbar. This will now link you to a section on the BC website which asks you what you want to achieve, and then lists the prerequisites required to get there.
