KeymasterIt has come to that time of year where the Centre is starting to welcome higher numbers of people on site including the beginning of our School Residential Programme.
As of Monday 29th April the following Yard Access Protocol will be implemented:
When the Centre is Open
One of the yard gates will remain open, and the second gate will remain closed with a padlock on it. This allowing access for pedestrians and some tenders. The open gap, will not be big enough for a vehicle to fit through. Please contact Reception if you require the closed gate to be opened and vehicle access into the yard. The yard will be checked before opening the second gate to ensure it is safe to do so. Please be mindful that you may be asked to wait until groups have cleared the yard before access is allowed.
We ask that when vehicles enter the yard, they have a ‘banksman’ with them, lights are on and also 4 way flashes.
When the Centre is Closed
The padlock will be removed but the drop down bolt will still be in place. The second gate is to remain shut unless vehicle access is required. Once completed the second gate is re-closed with the drop bolt put down. Again, we ask that when vehicles enter the yard there is a banksman, lights are on aswell as 4 way flashes.Should you drop the bollard in front of reception for access to the eastern slipway, please make sure this is replaced as soon as possible to stop anyone leaving the wrong way and getting a ticket on their vehicle.
Changing Room Usage
The Mount Batten Centre is a multi-user site; therefore, groups of children or young people should be supervised at all times and as far as practically possible. Groups of adults classified as ‘Adults at risk’ are to have the same levels of supervision.
As far as is reasonably practicable adults should not use the changing rooms whilst children / young people / adults at risk are using these facilities. Adults may be asked to wait or offered an alternative single user facility if available.
Protocol for changing room use:
· If a group of children, young people or adults at risk needs to use the changing rooms then the group leader/responsible individual will check the changing rooms to ensure no adults are present. If adults are present, then wait until they have vacated the changing room before entering.
· The first door from the corridor leading into the changing rooms are to be pinned back. This allows the group leader/responsible individual monitoring the changing rooms to hear if there are any behavioural issues. Please also pull across the yellow barrier just after the entrance to the toilet. This indicates to others that groups are in the changing rooms.
· The group leader/responsible individual must remain in the corridor until all the party have finished in the changing rooms.
· The group leader/responsible individual is to ask any adults wanting to use the changing rooms to wait until their group have finished changing or offer them the use of the single user facility, the classroom changing facility or accommodation changing facilities (keys are available from reception).
· Before adults enter the changing rooms, please check all children/ young people /adults at risk have left. When checking changing rooms two members of staff should be present, they should knock loudly on the door to announce themselves. Please also retract the yellow barrier.
· A duty manager will be available for any support. If you have any questions or queries regarding the reintroduction of this procedure, please do not hesitate to reply to this email or come into reception and talk with us.
Kindest regards,
The MBC Team-
