ParticipantPPCA XMAS paddle Saturday 17th December
I am posting a little early to give members plenty of notice about the club XMAS paddle on Saturday 17th December.
The paddle will be from Mount Batten on the water at the slightly later time of 10:30. We will then do a shortish paddle to a suitable venue to have an extended lunch break and feast on xmas fayre. It is usual for paddlers to bring along a food contribution to share with their fellow paddlers. Either sweet or savoury, a good mix usually appears on the day.
It is another tradition that paddlers wear a festive hat or if you wish adorn yourself and your boat in the festive spirit.
If you are coming along please post and also if you are bringing sweet or savoury food.
See you all there.

ParticipantAlice and I are keen. As I like a balanced diet (or just lots of food) we’ll bring a sweet and a savoury.
The long term forecast is for systems to be coming in from the west and so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that Saturday falls between two of them.

ParticipantPaul the weather has taken me by surprise this year as well. It will make a nice change to be actually paddling and not cancelling the Xmas paddle.
It should be a good one. The more the merrier.
For anyone thinking about coming along who has not been on a club xmas paddle before. It will be a shortish paddle with an extended stomach filling lunch before an equally shortish paddle back, then usually coffee or a drink up in the bar at Mount Batten.

ParticipantA cracking day out on the water with near perfect paddling conditions.
19 club paddlers had a festive feast at Mount Edgecombe after a leisurely paddle along the Hoe shore and crossing over at Devils Point with a nice bit of mid spring tide moving water.
With stomachs full, after lunch a short hop over to Drakes Island where we were joined by a couple of porpoises off in the distance.
Once back at Mount Batten up in the bar, Birgit gave an accordion masterclass of xmas classics.
