I am pretty sure there will be a trip this Sunday – as to what,,, well that is not easy to define (at the moment).
The rain forecast has varied hugely for Sunday from day to day as we get nearer. Everything from too low to too high!
If it is particularly low, then I would plan to run a introductory-level trip on the Lower Dart, otherwise an Intermediate trip on the Loop (Middle Dart) is my preference. If lots of rain, then a run on the Walkham maybe. As we have had a such a long dry spell, then the levels tend to spike up with rain and then fall very quickly making choices hard to make. A lot also depends on when the rain falls. If the forecasted rain is overnight Saturday/Sunday then the decision on trip choice may be deferred to Sunday first thing!

So….. Keep looking here for updates. I will post up again.

Meanwhile it would help me make the best choices if you would let me know if you are thinking of coming along.

    Thanks, Doug

    Hi Doug,
I’m planning to go with my grandson Ryan. He has done the Lower Lower twice and is quite good. He is ready for the Lower if you do run that. The Loop or Walkham would be too much at this stage.
We will wait for your decision with fingers crossed.

Today’s forecast at Princetown for Sunday says that there will be a lot of rain Sunday morning. If this is early, we will have a ‘big’ trip, convert to Walkham or cancel if too much!! If it is late, the levels might be very low!!! We might get on expecting a low run, only it is likely that the river will rise underneath us!!
I will look again tomorrow and post again….

Tricky this one!! The forecasts for rain vary a little, but all agree that there will be a lot tomorrow! There are several possible outcomes affecting a trip tomorrow.. The initial level might be very low, or might be ok… or might be high. However, the effects of the rain will be catching up with us so the level is likely to rise steeply during our trip! If it is already up when we get there then I will have to cancel. Either way, the trip is only for paddlers with experience at higher water levels & flows, a good set of support strokes and a roll. Given the rain that is forecast then it is advised to arrive fully changed as it will be torrential throughout. If circumstances change then the trip may easily cancel. I will update here at 7:15 tomorrow as to whether the trip will run or not. If go, then we will meet at the co-op in Plympton at 8am as usual.

We will go. The Dart is already high at 0.9, so please only come if you are feeling fit and up for fast-moving water. Give it a miss if there is any doubt.
