ParticipantHi all,
Myself and Jane Hitchins are down to run the whitewater river trip this Sunday, 14 November.
In general terms there has been little or no rain and our rivers are running low. In other years I would have mentioned things like cactus infested eddies and tumbleweed blowing along the river beds, but you’ve all heard that before so instead I will mention that we have a unique opportunity to study the geology. Unfortunately.
There is a little bit of drizzle forecast for Friday and the level at Austin’s Bridge is holding up at just over 0.6m. Assuming the level doesn’t drop we will run a beginner’s trip on the Lower Dart. (Holne to Buckfast.) If levels become too low for that we will run the Lower Lower Dart. (Buckfast to Staverton.) I will make a proper decision and post again on Friday evening.
As its Remembrance Sunday we will have 2 minutes silence just before we get on the water. Taking part is, of course, optional.
Canoes, otherwise known as open boats, are welcome on this trip on the understanding that I hold no canoeing qualification and can only provide safety cover. Canoeists will need to be of a suitable skill level and will need to provide their own boats etc.

ParticipantHi boys and girls,
There was a little bit of rain overnight and the level is surprisingly pleasant at the moment. Unless something spectacular happens, we will go ahead and run this trip on the lower Dart. (Holne to Buckfast.)
Meet in the Co-op car park in the ridgeway, Plympton ready to leave at 08:00, or in the lay by at Buckfast at 08:30.
A number of you have already indicated that you are coming, thanks for that. Can I ask anyone that knows they are going to attend to let me know please? Either by posting here of by text.
If anything changes I will post again before 18:00 tomorrow. (Saturday.)

ParticipantThe level is holding up nicely so there is no need to change any of the above arrangements, however there is a plot afoot for a group of people to run the Loop instead of the Lower Dart. The Loop trip will be a peer paddle but if you want to go along also meet at Plympton at 08:00.
