Hi paddlers. I am standing in for Chris this week.

Lots of rain yesterday, so levels are up today, but forecast suggests that the levels will be okay on Sunday. All a bit uncertain really. Planning to run a beginners trip on the Lower Dart starting at Holne Weir and down to Buckfastleigh at the Salmons Leap Cafe car park.

If the numbers (of more experienced paddlers) wanting to paddle the Loop are sufficient, then there could be an Intermediate Trip in parallel.

If you are coming along please meet at the Plympton Car Park near to the Coop end of the Ridgeway at 0845 hrs ready to move off at 0900 hrs. Because of the restricted car parking spaces at the other end we try to car share. If you live nearer the river end please meet in the far end of the car park of the Salmons Leap Cafe at 0930 hrs which is just to the left of the turning off the A38 Buckfast turn off.

If it is your intention to join us would you please indicate here or (if you can’t, text me on 07966740025).

I will update this entry on Saturday on or before 1800 hrs after checking the weather forecast and river levels etc
    See you on Sunday ?

    Hi paddlers!
I am sure you are aware that there has been a LOT of rain today..!
The river Dart is very high at the moment. The question is… what will it be tomorrow?
The blunt answer is that we won’t know until then. It is very dependent on the rainfall overnight. Each forecast I look at shows a different picture. Some saying lots, other saying not such much. Either way, the chances of a Dart trip tomorrow are slim.
I propose that we switch the trip to the Walkham. This drops off much quicker than the Dart (assuming it doesn’t rain too much overnight) and presents us a much greater possibility of a suitable trip. Intermediate paddlers on this trip will be fine. The final decision on suitability for beginners will be made tomorrow morning, and for the trip in general, and posted here at 8am.
Assuming all is ok, please meet at Towerfield Drive, Woolwell, PL6 7TN next to Domino’s (by Tesco) at 8:45am ready to leave at 9am.
Please reaffirm your intention to join this trip (or not) on this forum.

    Hi Doug,

I will pass on tomorrow’s trip and leave you intermediates and experienced ones to enjoy yourselves. I hope you all have a lovely day.

Doug, I hope your cold doesn’t spoil your fun.

    Thanks.

    Hi Doug,

I don’t think a walkham trip would work for the Uni group, so we’ll have to drop out.

Many thanks to Doug for leading an excellent trip down the Walkham today. Beautiful river in autumn sunshine and many really good play spots on the way down all in the company of some top paddlers. What not to like (except getting changed in downpour at end). Looking forward to the vid Banjo.
