Well here we are again at the beginning of another River season. Where has this past 6 months gone since we were last on the local rivers. This trip as can be seen is for the benefit of beginners mainly but if you want to brush up please come along as well. For those of you who have never been before we all meet up in the B&Q Car Park at Marsh Mills at 0845 hrs ready to LEAVE at 0900hrs. The reason for this is that car park spaces in the river area is very limited as you will soon find out so if we can car share and reduce the number of vehicles where possible the better.
Equipment wise you will need a Boat ,Helmet and Buoyancy aid as a must. The rest is up to you but without any of those items it will be a NO GO!. After a couple of swims the rivers tend to get a bit cool especially later in the season so beware make sure you have enough covering to keep warm. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
If you require a boat please contact the Equipment Officer,Pete in plenty of time and make an arrangement with him to collect one. Secondly if you require a lift either get somebody to give you a lift down to B&Q and we will take you from there or make a request on here and I am sure one of us will help out!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
Finally the only river we can do at the moment is the Lower Dart which is from Holne Weir to Buckfastleigh which is a good beginners river. It might be a good idea to bring a small snack and a drink if you wish as we will have a short stop on the way down. We should be back at the B&Q Car Park by about 1500 hrs roughly just to give you an idea on times.
The rivers have a habit of rising and falling depending on the volume of rain so although we can give a rough prediction, by Saturday evening it could either be too high or non at all so have a look back on this site and I will update it then as to whether it is on or off. Its looking good at the moment ! If anybody has any questions about this trip kit or whatever please ring me on 07790293952. ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„
Please leave a note on here if you intend to partake only and any requests. I do not want to know if you cannot or do not want to come along thanks! But have a good day anyway.
Have a good week and See you all on Sunday

Hi Steve that was lucky you wont be paddling alone now with this motley crew. In fact you should come out the other end of the river an olympic paddler with all these experts with you. The trip is on but I think the levels are going to be quite low . Still it will be good to catch up with everybody and I am sure we will all have a good old chat on the way. ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ™„
I would add for any prospective beginners to this sport that the weather at this time of the year is a lot warmer than January/February so if you want to have a go do it earlier rather than later.
See you all in the morning. I have your Mars Bar Buck just bring the tea please one sugar!
    Ken
