ModeratorI will be running the above trip on Sunday which is primarily aimed for beginners however at this stage of the season one would hope that most of you beginners would be competent to move up a stage. So with this in mind I will not make a decision until fairly late as to what river and which section we will be paddling. ๐ ๐ This will of course depend on who is attending and the state of the river so if you are intending to come along please let me know either on this forum topic or by phone. Please if you cannot make it I am so sorry but I do not want to know really. We will meet at the B&Q car park at Marsh Mills ready to LEAVE at 0900 hrs. I will update this sometime early on Saturday evening which will be after 1800 hrs. On duty at Rugby! ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐

ParticipantHi ken I would like to go please. I copied this information from Facebook, may be of interest. I don’t think it will interfere with paddling but maybe parking.
Heads up about wild water races this weekend.
Intention is to base them from Newbridge with 2 runs above Newbridge on Saturday 12.00 and 1300 and the classic again from above Newbridge to Holne Bridge from 11.15 on Sunday.
These boats are generally going to be traveling faster than normal kayaks and canoes they do catch people unawares please look out for them and they will be looking out for you. We will still take entries on the day if anyone would like to race.
They race at 1 min intervals and there will probably be around 30 entries.

InactiveKen, I believe that Sunday is the 10th January, I’m almost certainly not going to be able to make this unless I get back sooner.

ModeratorThanks for all your support in replying. Unfortunately having looked at the river levels this morning it is looking very unlikely that the trip will be on tomorrow as the levels are already over the remit we are allowed to paddle at as a Club trip with the prospect of a lot more rain during the rest of this day and through the night almost up until 0600 hrs tomorrow. However I will have another look this evening to see if anything has changed and will make a final decision then. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
Thanks Mark for keeping us up to date with the racing that may still be on and to Buck for correcting me on the date. Sorry sir!

ModeratorWell as you will probably have guessed by now I am afraid I am going to have to call the trip off. The Dart river level is quite big and I cannot see this receding in time for the trip tomorrow. After padding this river for many years this is the first time I think I have had to call it off because of the high volume of water. Have a look at the gauges and you will see what I mean. Hope to see you all on a river soon in the meantime have a good week.

ParticipantThe guage I look at (Dunnabridge) is 1.97 at the moment. 1.15 is equivalent to water running through the third arch at Newbridge ๐ฎ Scary! And more rain is on the way.

KeymasterShame – and thanks for letting us know Ken. Will look forward to lying in bed and listening to the rain on the window instead! Adam
