    Hi All,

This is the 2nd year of the SouthWest Paddle Fest and I really believe that the PPCA should try and support the event in any way possible.

    http://www.southwestpaddlefest.com/

Please post any ideas you may have, we are communicating with the organisers, they are welcoming any thoughts we have and I think there is lots to gain for our club.

If you are thinking of buying tickets and going along can I suggest you hold off as there will be discounted tickets once we have a better idea of what involvement we can have with the event.

    Thoughts? Ideas?

    Regards,

    Tony

    Hi All,

Had a very productive meeting with today with Clint, the main organiser behind SW Paddlefest and covered far to many topics to list here, but here are the salient points, email me if you need more info:

    1. There are only 6 places available to the PPCA, that’s if you want a ticket via the club at £60 for the two nights camping and paddling etc. Go via their website and it will cost you £79.50 (including £4.50 booking fee). This is open to non-paddlers, or for youngsters who want to have ago. Check out http://www.southwestpaddlefest.com/.

    2. If you want to “pop over on the day” you won’t be able to just turn up and paddle.. You still need to buy a ticket in advance, complete various bits of paperwork eg personal details, paddling ability etc, register what paddle you want to go on and and be on the beach at Mt Edgcumbe for at least 8am. You can of course pop over and view the trade stalls etc for free.

    3. On the Fri night at Edgcumbe there will be a final list ‘s displayed (after considering the weather forecast) of what paddles are going where/doing what on the Saturday. This is besides all the other water based & land based activities taking place. This is your opportunity to choose your paddle, they will range from extreme eg paddle to Looe, Eddystone etc, to mild and gentle, something for everyone. Similar lists will be displayed on the Saturday night for Sun, but on the Sunday paddles there will be more paddling “workshops”. There are more activities taking place which are not listed on the website.

    4. Combined with the Sat paddles will be an opportunity to “Paddle for Plastic” (see https://fathomsfree.org/paddleforplastics/)

    5. I hope to set up a PPCA “exhibition stall” amongst the traders stalls, If you would like to help me on this that would be appreciated. If you are not paddling you can come into the area for free.

    6. Coaches for the paddles include Tom Thorpe, Ric Cooper, Pete Bray, plus at least 3 other top coaches including a rolling clinic.

    7. Its a paddlefest and numbers are restricted per boat category to ensure a good balance between all types of boats including SOT’s, SUP’s, sea kayaks, GP kayaks etc etc.

    8. A bar, hot showers, toilets, food, a fire on the beach, entertainment, networking, chilling in a beautiful country park, trade stalls including Palm, Chillcheaters etc. For £30 per person per night.

    9. This is a ‘not for profit’ venture, this is a charity event and all monies raised will go to the Veteran’s Foundation (https://www.veteransfoundation.org.uk/).

If you want a place reserved email me asap, I will need full payment within the next 7 days. Payment will be into the Club’s bank account. Places will be held on a ‘first come’ basis.

I would encourage you to take a look here: http://www.southwestpaddlefest.com/

Get back to me if you have a question.

    Tony
