Short rec paddle, 23 November. Your opinion please.

Hi All,

I’m running another short rec paddle on 23 November and I’m wondering about the start time.

By tradition the short rec paddles start at 10:30 and get back to Mount Batten at about 13:00. The result is a nice lie in but it does mean that the short paddle takes up a huge chunk of the day.

I was wondering about starting at 09:30 and finish at approx. 12:00 instead. This would mean getting up a bit earlier but would leave a whole chunk of the day to do something else. (Snoozing if you are as old as me.)

What would be your preference?

Hi All,

Thanks to those that took the time to voice an opinion about the start time for this paddle. The consensus is to start at the new time of 09:30, so that is what we will aim for but…

..Have you seen the forecast for Saturday? They are forecasting gale force SSW winds and rain, which is hardly conducive to a gentle paddle around the Sound. However, high tide is at 10:38 so we could run a trip into Hooe Lake etc. this would give us shelter from the worst of the wind. (But not the rain.)

I can’t pretend that it will be a gentle, relaxing paddle but I am willing to go as long as some of you are going to turn up, so can I ask that if you are intending to come along that you let me know please? Either by text or you can reply on facebook because the loverly Joy will pass the info on to me.

I will post again on Friday evening to confirm what is happening.

You are obviously very intelligent people and have found something better to do tomorrow. I will also do the sensible thing and cancel the short paddle.
