    Dear all

I’ll be leading the club’s sea kayak trip on Saturday (hooray, I hear you cry). The plan is to explore the beautiful River Lynher — the neap tides are perfectly timed so that we go up on the gentle flood and back on the ebb. Thanks to Tony for noticing this and recommending the route.

Launch from Saltash slipway, on the water for 10am. If anyone wants to launch under the bridge at St Budeaux and paddle across to meet us at 10am, that’s fine, though there’s less free parking and no public toilet (both available at Saltash). Lunch at St Germans. Total distance roughly 12 miles (20km).

For those keen on the football (yes, penalty-kick stars England start against Sweden at 3pm), note that we’re unlikely to be back at Saltash before 3pm, and even that would be unseemly haste.

The forecast is around 24 degrees in the shade, winds light and variable, so it’s going to be pretty hot on the water. Bring suitable clothes, a hat and plenty of sunscreen and water, plus the usual safety equipment.

If you need a club boat, I’ll be at MB on Friday evening at 6.30. (I’m suggesting Friday because we need to be on the water at 10am on Saturday, so it would be a very early start to collect boats before heading to Saltash). Please contact Pete Anderson to reserve a boat: 07958 694434 or equipment@ppca-canoe-club.org.uk

Please post here if you aim to come. This is essential if you plan to launch from St Budeaux.

That stretch of water in the right conditions is beautiful and can be sooo tranquil, I will be there.

See you in the Saltash car park.

Well, it looks like we’ll have a good-sized group for our summery trip on Saturday. Interesting news from Tony, who contacted the St Germans sailing club to ask about the slipway and toilets — they’ve kindly invited us not only to use their toilets but also to join them in the club for a pasty and pint.
With a welcome like that, I’m going to raid the secret compartment in my hat where I stash my ice-cream/cream tea/pasty fund. Anyone else want to leave their packed lunches at home?
    Good move, Tony!

It’s a bit odd seeing the word tranquil in a post from the arcticrambler, I always thought the 2 were mutually exclusive. I’m looking forward to a unique experience.

A pasty in Cornwall? Count me in. If it’s not very good then Trelawney can tell us why.
