    Hi all

I’m running the final PPCA sea kayak away day on Sunday 12 September. The forecast isn’t bad so we will resurrect last months aborted plan which was to launch at Breakwater car park, Brixham. The address of Breakwater car park is Berry Head Road, Brixham, TQ5 9AF.

Brixham Breakwater car park isn’t very big and gets full. We will launch at 10:00 meaning that we would need to be there around 09:30, which should be early enough for us to find a parking space. The car park isn’t cheap, it will cost you £8.50 to park all day. More bad news is that there is a charge to use the loos. The good news is that the paddling makes the pain all worthwhile and that there is a good ice cream shop nearby.

The aim is to paddle a distance of between 12 & 14 miles.

Club boats are available for this trip. To book a club boat please contact equipment officer Pete Anderson via equipment@ppca-canoe-club.org.uk or 07958 694434. These would need to be picked up from the club either on Friday night or Saturday.

It would be quite nice to know if you are coming.

I post again on Saturday morning to confirm detail.

    Well boys and girls,

There is hardly any wind forecast for tomorrow but there is the chance of a drop of rain. This trip will go ahead from Brixham as previously advised.

There are caves, some of which are fairly deep. A head torch may be useful.

    See you tomorrow.

Well, what a lot of wildlife we saw. There were harbour porpoises, bottle nosed dolphins, grey seals and Thursday paddlers. I’m not sure which were the prettiest but I know who were the ugliest.

Thanks to the seven salty paddlers for your company and for making our final sea kayaking away day of the season so much fun, plus a special thanks to Adam for leading us again. Quite possibly the easiest paddle he will ever lead.

    Clive A.
