    Saturday Rec Paddle 19th March

I am optimistic about a club rec paddle this coming weekend (para 1) but also realistic about the likely outcome (para 2).

The club rec paddle will be going from Mount Batten, usual time on the water at 10:00. Please bring along your usual paddling kit and any safety equipment you may have, First Aid, VHF radio, tow line, spare clothes etc. If you are thinking of coming along please post so I have an idea of numbers.

For those paddlers that look at the weather forecast for the week ahead you will have noticed the lovely sunshine predicted for this coming Saturday 19th. BUT you may have also noticed the wind, which is currently predicted to be around 22 mph gusting over 40 mph from the east. Although some shelter can be found during easterlies in Jennycliff Bay and around the eastern shore. The predicted wind gusts will need to drop off to lower levels for a club paddle to take place on Saturday. As usual I will make a final decision on Friday evening and put a message up.

Sorry paddlers but I don’t think it will come as any surprise but the club rec paddle tomorrow is CANCELLED.
Not much change in the wind speed, 22 mph gusting over 40 mph. Well outside remit for a club paddle and also not safe conditions to be out on the water. Nice walking weather though. Fingers crossed for next weekend and better paddling conditions.
