For the benefit of those who have not yet come over to the (facebook) Dark Side, “Hello, Steve” – Gavin, EMU, Ragtag, Bobtail and I have decided to go down to Polkerris for a Saturday Peer Group Small Boat Paddle and Rock Hop. We’re not prejudiced, you can bring a long boat if you want – but small boats are more fun on this very coastal paddle.
We shall be protected from the SE breeze on our spectacular way to Gribbin Head – think of Jennycliffe Bay on steroids.
Car parking at Polkerris (SX0259) is a bit pricy (£5 to £6 last time I was there) but that’s just a desperate attempt by the Parish Council to stop kayakers finding out what a great place it is.
We’ll be leaving Devonport at 0900, and it’s just about an hour’s drive away.
On arrival, we tend to go down to the Road’s End to unload the boats, and then back up to the car park to change. Please be considerate of local traffic.
There are toilets (at least there were last time I was there) and I’m sure one or other of the beach side hostelleries will be open if you need/want to recover before driving home.
REMEMBER!! This is your last day of freeedom before the Governmental Jobsworths inflict the EARLY DARK upon you. Make the most of it!
