KeymasterThe air pressure over Plymouth on Saturday is forecast to be 979, which is rather low. With that depression comes wind and the accompanying swell. I like to pick the most optimistic forecast but am struggling to find one I’m afraid. At this stage it is unlikely that there will be a club paddle on Saturday as the conditions are likely to be beyond my remit. We need an Advanced Sea Kayak Leader! However I will not make a final decision until Friday evening because the forecast can change, so please check back here.
Until tomorrow,
Adam

KeymasterIt’s Friday evening so a further post as promised. Tomorrow the wind from the South is predicted to be Force 4 gusting 6 and the open sea to have a 3m swell with a 13 second interval. For those interested in surf the wave energy at Bovisand is predicted to be around 3500 kilojoules. That’s a lot of energy and I suspect that the majority of club paddlers would not altogether enjoy the experience, especially launching and landing. I am, therefore, cancelling tomorrow’s paddle. I had wondered about offering Sunday instead but the conditions are not dissimilar on the following day. Sadly there is nobody to lead a club river trip on Sunday and the levels are likely to be pretty high. Looks like a dry weekend 😒
