    Sat Rec Paddle 21st Feb

Well I had high hopes for the Rec paddle this Saturday. A nice low spring tide of 0.1, so my thoughts were a paddle from Wembury and a game of cricket and lunch on the Yealm sandbar.

ALAS I woke from my dream and looked at the weather and came back down to earth. I will now make a decision on Friday if a club paddle will be taking place. At the moment the weather is looking showers with NW winds 21mph gusting 30+mph. Surf 4-6 feet.

With a NW we should be able to get over to the Hoe and get some shelter for a short paddle to Devils point but this may be limited to a peer paddle if there is no improvement in conditions. Look out for a post on Friday evening.

Sorry folks, at least the river paddlers should be smiling with plenty of rain later in the week.

The weather has firmed up for Saturday and not much change, windy, showers and cold. The peak of the wind will be around lunctime tomorrow. I will make a decision if the club paddle is cancelled when I see the conditions locally in the morning.

If the club paddle is cancelled there will definately be a sheltered peer paddle taking place. Probably along the Hoe and over to Edgecombe.

Well it turned out the local conditions were fine for a club paddle. A nice small group and good to have both Neil and Owen along. Devils point was living up to its name and thundering along looking very snarly so we stayed this side and enjoyed the rock hop back as the low tide peaked.

If I get some time I will post a few photos.

Very enjoyable, Terry — thanks. Fascinating to see such a low tide.
