Hi all,
Bekky and I are leading a trip this Sunday and it looks like there will be the right amount of water somewhere. Exactly where remains to be seen.
Since it’s still before Xmas the trip will be aimed at the less experienced WW paddlers – and it’s still not too late for a first trip :-).
I’ll let you know exactly where we plan to go later in the week. In the spirit of BC student centric coaching, I’m interested in where you’d like to go (conditions permitting). There’s a poll up on Facebook (you can’t do such things here but you can comment below) so vote for what you’d like to do).
In increasing order of challenge:
Lower lower dart (really grade 1 perfect first trip)
Tamar (grade 1 with bits of 2)
Lower dart (grade 2)
First part of the loop (to spitxhwick to avoid the grade 3 bit but good technical practice and maybe 2 runs)We’ll end up doing whatever makes sense on the day but I’m interested in opinions.
Looking at the options expressed on Facebook, the more novice paddlers have expressed interest in an easy trip on the lower lower – whereas a number of intermediate and advanced paddlers would rather do the (top part of the) loop.
Since this is a beginner friendly trip, we’ll aim for the lower lower. Aim for the currently standard 8am at the long term car park above the ridgeway coop, for about 8:30 at the Austin bridge lay-by.
It is winter now, so dress for cold weather and cold water.
Still opportunities for a first trip for some 🙂
