ParticipantHi all,
I’m down to run the first river trip of the season on Sunday 5 October.
At present the river levels are too low for this to go ahead but there is rain in the forecast later in the week. There is probably a 50/50 chance that we can run a beginners trip, probably on the Lower Lower Dart, which is the section that runs from Buckfast to Staverton.
I won’t be able to make a proper decision until Saturday evening but if this trip does run we will meet at the car park adjacent to the Co-op in the Ridgeway at Plympton, ready to leave at 08:30.
If you are thinking of coming can I ask that you let me know please?
I don’t have access to facebook. Can I ask that you respond either through the PPCA website forum, or by text.
I will post again on Saturday to confirm what is going on.
Sorry to be a bit vague, but welcome to the reality of river paddling.
Splish splash. (Hopefully!)

ParticipantHi all,
The predicted rain has arrived. The level in the River Dart came up and is now dropping. The rain is forecast to die out this afternoon so I expect that the river level is going to continue to drop. We will be paddling on a dropping river, which is always far more relaxing than paddling on a rising river.
Obviously, I don’t know how far the river is going to drop, but there will be enough water to paddle either the lower Dart, or the lower lower Dart. We will probably decide by looking over Dart Bridge in the morning.
For those of you new to river paddling the lower Dart runs from Holne to Buckfast, and the lower lower Dart runs from Buckfast to Staverton. Both sections offer a good training ground for the white-water beginner.
We will meet at the long-term car park adjacent to the Co-op in the ridgeway, Plympton, ready to leave at 08:30. We will try to take as few cars as possible to the river so please allow some time to swap boats etc. what3words give the location of the car park as minute.stored.manual
You may prefer to meet us at the river, in which case please be at the lay by opposite the Strawberry Fields Farm Shop at 09:00. What3words for the lay by is drives.contacts.resonates
You will need suitable paddling equipment. Please see the latest edition of Up The Creek, our most marvellous newsletter, for details. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Once again can I ask that if you are intending to come along can you let me know please, either by responding to the website forum of via text. I don’t have access to facebook so posting there is the same as not responding.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
