River trip, Sunday 28 December.

Season’s greetings to all of you. Before you go off and celebrate Christmas, (or maybe the winter solstice) here is a quick note about Sunday’s river trip (28 December).

The river levels are dropping and there is no rain in the forecast, so I am expecting to run a beginner’s trip on the Lower Dart this Sunday. With generally low levels I would not expect the river to be busy, thus I will plan to leave Plympton at 09:00 instead of the usual earlier time.

I will post again on Saturday to confirm details. In the meantime, if you are intending to come along to this trip can you let me know please?

Canoes, otherwise known as open boats, are welcome on this trip on the understanding that I hold no canoeing qualification and can only provide safety cover. Canoeists will need to be of a suitable skill level and will need to provide their own boats etc.

Oh, and it’s going to be cold. Julian has taken over from your mum in telling you to wrap up warm.

Hi all,

This trip will go ahead tomorrow.

We will meet at the long-term car park adjacent to the Co-op in the Ridgeway, Plympton. what3words gives friend.rear.empire We will meet in time to swap boats around and be ready to leave at 09:00 please.
Those that live closer to the river we will meet in the lay-by opposite Strawberry Fields café. What3words gives sprains.fades.models Meet there at 09:20.

Note the later than normal start time.

At time of writing, it’s just myself and Mark U who are coming. If you are intending to come along, can I ask that you let me know, please?

Its cold. We will do our best not to part take in any under water geological surveys.
