Hi all,
Doug was down to run the river trip this Sunday, 25 February, but sadly his Dad has passed away and Doug is away attending the funeral etc this week. Doug has asked if I would run this Sunday’s river trip instead. Our thoughts go out to Doug at this difficult time.
This week has seen plenty of bright sunshine accompanied by some stiff breezes, which is very nice but has left our rivers looking somewhat dry. The Austin’s Bridge gauge was showing 0.61 at 04:00 this morning and there is no rain forecast. I would expect the Dart to be too low to bother with on Sunday so I am planning to run this trip on the river Tamar instead.
Assuming we do run the Tamar we will meet on the road outside Certini cycle shop in Saltash ready to leave at 09:00. The address of Certini is 10 Kingsmill Road, Tamar View Industrial Estate, Saltash, PL12 6LD. If you want to meet us at the river then be at the take out at Gunnislake at 09:30.
The Tamar is a fairly straight forward river and is suitable for our beginners.
Open boats.
Club members who wish to come on this trip in open boats are welcome on the understanding that they have had some previous white water open boat experience and can provide their own equipment. I hold no open boat qualifications and as such can only provide safety cover.
I will post again on Saturday evening to confirm arrangements; in the meantime an indication of numbers would be good.
