ModeratorWell as you are aware this is very late as I have been watching the weather forecast all week for this coming weekend and at this time it is not looking good for a trip on Sunday as the forecast is for snow Saturday night into Sunday morning. However if this doesn’t materialize we will be paddling the loop so usual arrangements meet at the Plympton Long Stay car park ready to LEAVE at 0900 hrs. Those living nearer meet in the Holne Layby at 0930 hrs. Beware though although the temperature might be showing + or – 1Degree the wind chill temperature will probably even less than that !!
We have some members paddling the Dart tomorrow so will seek their advice regarding road conditions from them later in the day and I will then put an update as to the situation then around about 1800 hrs.
May I take this opportunity to wish all our Irish contingent a happy St Patrick’s Day tomorrow and hope that getting hammered by England tomorrow in the rugby 6 Nations wont spoil your day!!! Not sure I should have said that just in case its the other way round begorra ! :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek: π In any case they have won it anyway so well done. Keep it to yourself though, they also played some really cracking rugby as well to get there.

ParticipantI intend running a non club trip on the Upper Dart on Sunday but with all the provisos that Ken has outlined above. I wonβt be in tomorrow evening so I will go along with whatever Ken decides.
We will also meet at Plympton Co-op car park ready to leave at 09:00.
Fingers crossed.

ModeratorI guess a few of you are waiting for a decision which I am afraid having just looked at the weather forecast for tomorrow is showing quite a bit of snow still from midnight until late tomorrow afternoon along with icy conditions. In view of that and for safety reasons reluctantly I am afraid we are going to have to cancel the paddle tomorrow. π π I think this is the first one of the season so we have done pretty well really. I would also remind you that we still have one more Sunday to go so hopefully see you all then for the last River paddle of the club season. Sorry Banjo and hope you can make it next week !!

ParticipantGood call Ken, I was at Mortenhampstead last night and on the way home it didn’t stop snowing until we reached Ashburton.
The level on the Hexworthy gauge is 0.46, which is right on the lower limits of paddling the Upper Dart, so couple that with possibly icy road conditions and very cold water and air temperatures then not paddling seems like a good option.
On the plus side the snow has to melt sometime, looking forward to that!
