RIVER TRIP SUNDAY 18th FEBRUARY. Monitoring weather and levels closely so the plan at the moment would be to paddle the Walkham and try and get away from the chaos that is the Dart. This is not a beginner’s trip so if you have paddled the Loop successfully this would be a suitable trip for you. Plan to meet at Towerfield Drive opposite Lidls at Roborough, Towerfield Drive, Woolwell, Plymouth, PL6 7FG, Dev, 08:30 dressed, loaded and ready to head to the get out where we can then shuttle upto Magpie Bridge. Hope the plan works out. Will update Saturday pm. Can be contacted 07543791624

    Hi Phil,

    I will be there.

We ran the Walkham just over a week ago. At that time there was a new, river wide, tree blocking the river about halfway between Slot and Drop and the footbridge. The level on the day was 0.55 on the Horrabridge gauge and we managed to paddle over this tree. The tree is hiding around a bend so didn’t see it until quite late and I didn’t notice where the eddies were. Just thought this would be useful info.

Just returned from Dartmoor and levels remain high. With the overnight perditions on rain and levels I’m cancelling the Club River Paddle as conditions fall outside the club remit. Feel your disappointed but I do not want a repeat of a previous poor decision. regards Philip Cleave
