ModeratorHi Folks well as you can see the weather does not seem to be playing ball with us and although it has been raining it is not in quite the quantity that we would wish for but hey ho we will paddle somewhere. At this time I would be planning to go on the Loop Dart but if the levels do not get above .56 on the Austin Bridge Gauge I will be considering the River Tamar which will be from Latchley Ford down to Gunnislake. On a sunny day this is a lovely stretch of river with a few places to play on which will suit Beginners and Intermediate. Aiming for the first choice please meet in the Coop car park in Plympton ready to leave at 0900 hrs. We will try and cater for all levels on both rivers. We will stop for a short break so that you can catch up with a drink and some food if you wish. If you haven’t been before please read the latest edition of the News Letter where a fine article has been published with lots of advice for White Water paddling. I will update this post at about 1800 hrs on Saturday evening.
Hope to see you all soon ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐

ModeratorWell as you can see the River Dart level is .54 so we will be paddling the River Tamar. For this trip please meet at the TAMAR BRIDGE CAR PARK ready to leave at 0900hrs. This trip is ideal for beginners but there are also quite a few spots to play on for intermediate paddlers. Bit disappointing regarding the huge response so far and I am afraid that we cannot paddle with just 2 as I am sure you will appreciate so I will leave this offer open this evening until 2200 hrs but if there are no more takers by then please consider the trip as cancelled. In all the years I have been running white water trips I have never had to cancel one for the lack of numbers so please dont disappoint me. ๐ฎ ๐ฎ ๐ฎ You know the old adage USE IT or LOOSE IT folks !!
As your new Chairman it might be interesting to know exactly what you do want from us so that we can plan our lives a bit differently maybe
Hope to see you all in the morning bright and breezy. Dont forget TAMAR BRIDGE CAR PARK ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐

ParticipantI shall meet you at car park around 0930. Please confirm if you are going . (boat ect already loaded .
No got that wrong. The bottom car park, the get out at Gunnislake , over the bridge, turn left 200 metres along forest track , car park on left by river. Sign says no canoeing . Is this OK if I make it by about 0920

ParticipantThat’s the bottom car park, just past Gunnislake bridge ,if that’s OK with you

ParticipantPs This is one of my favourite rivers. It has interesting but generally easy features, easy weirs, and stretches like the rock gardens that are ideal for beginners. I hope to see autumn colours starting . Every time I have been down it I have spotted the kingfisher which flies on ahead of you. I hope to see it again !

KeymasterHi Ken.
I’m out tonight but would like to come along tomorrow. Wasn’t sure if I could make it but will commit. If you feel the need to cancel later I understand.
Thanks Kitts.October 14, 2017 at 6:47 pm #6689Adam Coulson

ParticipantHi Ken, see you tomorrow. Colin I will hand over the drysuit after the paddle. You can pass it back on the October 29th paddle if you’re going on it.

ModeratorWell there we are where were you all hiding until now, you had me worried for a while. ๐ ๐ Patrick yes no bother you have the right car park near the Gunnislake bridge on the Devon side. Felix the Tamar Bridge Car Park is on the Devon side as well near the toll booths. Cornwall cant afford car parks!! DEFINITELY ON ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐

ParticipantSorry I can’t make it tomorrow. I didn’t realise that there would be a trip suitable for novices and so had committed to something that I now can’t move.
Not being used to the way things work yet, how likely is it that there will be beginner suitable trips beyond the previous two that were listed on the calendar and how far in advance is that likely to be visible?
Thanks.

InactiveHi Ken,
Apologies for the late reply but also keen to attend tomorrow.
Is the car park just before the toll booths on the left heading towards Cornwall?
Is there a mobile number I can contact if I get lost???See you all
