Happy New Year to all my salty friends, or is that all my bone dry and un-exercised friends?

Joy is down to run this Saturday’s rec paddle but has decided that watching rugby is a better option and has asked me to run this instead.

A look at the Atlantic chart and forecast for the coming week will reveal that the weather pattern of high winds and rain is set to continue, but enough is enough. We may not go far and we may not be out for long but there will be a club trip from Mount Batten this weekend. I will keep an eye on the forecast and (as Jane Seigne suggested in a previous post) if Sunday looks like being a significantly better day than Saturday we will paddle on Sunday instead. I will post here on Thursday with my decision. In the mean time start toning up those somewhat flabby muscles, and look forward to the weekend with eager and salty anticipation.

Hi boys and girls of the salty persuasion,

The Saturday paddle on 9 January will go ahead on Saturday 9 January. The forecast is for force winds 5 and rain, which may we may well find a bit of a challenge. Given the forecast this will be a short trip, probably finishing by 13:00, but it should be exciting!

The aim will be to paddle in challenging conditions but not to end up scared; with this in mind our route will be very flexible and will depend on the conditions we find on the day, and more importantly on how people are feeling.

The last time we paddled on the sea was in November. Since then our extremely mild winter has slowly given way to more normal temperatures. Stay warm boys and girls.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday, on the water at Mount Batten at 10:00.

Songs of Victory, Tunes of Glory!

    I don’t mind feeling a little scared – on a temporary basis.

Bekky and EMU have indicated they’ll be with us – I v much hope so, ‘cos otherwise I won’t have a lift!

Thank you to, Clive and team on the rec paddle today. How many times did I capsize? I lost count!! You all made it fun, thank you Mary for flapjack, so enjoyed my second slice!! Can’t wait to get out again and give you all some more assisted rescue practice xx

Helping each other is what we do, I can’t speak for Jane, David or Mark but it was all just service as normal as far as I am concerned. I do appreciate your post though, thanks.

The weather is looking a bit calmer for this Saturday, maybe see you then.

Clive could have spoken for us – it’s just like he said. Jane got an “assist” for her 4* log book, Mark and I were delighted not to have to leap into action; and I was well impressed with how you handled the swells just off the MB breakwater, and with your decision to paddle home the last lap under your own steam. Any time!
