Clive A
ParticipantHi all
Joy was down to run the Saturday Rec paddle on 30 Jan but she has had a better offer, (or so she thinks), leaving me to once again stand in for her. I find that expressions like “gullible” and “hen pecked” keep popping into my head. Am I alone?
Anyway, this is an early heads up. The forecast for Saturday is in the region of 22 MPH westerly wind and mostly light rain. This paddle will definitely go ahead but conditions will not be conducive to a gentle paddle on a flat calm sea, and I may even change the venue to the Yealm estuary. I will decide later in the week and post my decision here, probably on Thursday evening. Bet you can hardly wait.
In the mean time I think I can hear the river calling. Surprise Surprise!

ParticipantHi all
I’ve made up my mind what to do on Saturday. The Saturday paddle will go from Mount Batten, 10:00 on the water.
The forecast varies from 18 – 23 MPH westerly winds with gusts that we won’t mention here ‘cause there may be children watching. This probably won’t be a gentle paddle but it will be fun. (I’ll enjoy it anyway).
See you on Saturday.

ParticipantHi all
Well, here’s a bit of a first but I have actually made up a plan for tomorrows trip, and although I say so myself this is a plan of rare and crafted cunning.
My cunning plan is this. We will paddle out through Jennycliff Bay exploring any rock-hopping opportunities that present themselves to us on the way. Once we have had enough of this, (around Cable Beach I wouldn’t be surprised), we will potter over to Drakes Island where we will enjoy an extended break. Because its winter and the vegetation will be low we will have lunch and then explore the various tunnels and other wartime installations on the island. (Bring a torch). Suitably enthralled we will then return to Mount Batten, either direct or via the Hoe foreshore.
Just how cunning a plan is that?
See you tomorrow.

ParticipantWith a plan like that, who could resist? Hope to be there, clutching my brolly.

ParticipantI will come along and keep you both company!
Unfortunately; Any is not well enough to run the Open Boat paddle, so I shall be back on the sea.
Get better soon Andy.

InactiveWell, doesn’t that take the biscuit – I was going to josh Clive about his strange idea that he was henpecked – and suddenly he isn’t any more. In the mean time there’s so much to do at chez Dave28 to get ready for Joy’s next assault, that there’s just no way I can paddle – and even if I could I don’t think I’ve enough energy left over from being decorated! Have a really good time Joy!

InactiveMany thanks Clive for this ‘little bit different’ paddle. A perfect amount of fun.
