ParticipantHi all
I’m running the rec paddle this Saturday, 28 April.
The weather is predicted to be a bit breezy and a bit cool with a few showers. Make sure you are warm enough. (That’s your mum talking).
On the water at Mount Batten at 10:00 as usual please.
I have a plan so cunning that even Mr Blackadder would be amazed. It involves the use of a torch so you may like to bring one along. (Failing that eat lots of carrots which, as Steve Denton will tell you, are very smart things).
See you on Saturday,
Clive A.

brucebParticipantUnfortunately we have run out of carrots. Also have guests this weekend. So won’t be able to make this paddle. Have fun and don’t get lost in the dark.

Adam CoulsonKeymasterHaving in mind that a torch is required and that twilight is at 21.12 I am worried that carrots alone will prove inadequate sustenance. Thus will bring other food too – that’s Karen and me. 😉

ParticipantTo do a Terry 23 paddlers completed a route that started at Mount Batten and took in Jennycliffe Bay, Cable Beach, Drakes Island and the Hoe foreshore before returning to Mount Batten via Spiky Buoy. 7 miles in a force 3 – 4 SSE wind during an outgoing spring tide. What I would describe as pleasantly lumpy conditions.
Those 23 paddlers turned up for a cunning plan that in the end turned out to be devoid of any cunningness. Who would have thought that someone would have repaired the gates at the entrance to Drakes Island? So as Bob Grose commented we carried our torches for no other purpose than to make our boats lighter. (You will notice that I have very carefully distanced myself from that particular joke).
Whilst it wasn’t quite the day I had planned it was a very pleasant to be paddling in the sunshine with galloping white horses dancing around us. It fair made my heart sing it did.
Thanks for your company and see you next time,
Clive A.

AnonymousInactiveThanks for a very enjoyable paddle, Clive. I’d add ‘lots of fun’ to the pleasantly lumpy part of your description. And I deny all knowledge of that awful pun (hoping that no-one else heard it).
