Joy AshfordParticipantWell its my turn to run the Recreational paddle this Saturday.
We will be going from MB and on the water for 10am please.
The weather is not looking too bad (considering the time of year). It is starting to get a little chilly now, so dress accordingly. You may want to bring an extra layer to put on at lunch time or at least a warm hat.
Looking forward to seeing your smiling faces on Saturday.

Have a great paddle see you all next Saturday.

AnonymousInactiveFabulous paddle ….even a return leg via breakwater was lovely….and the dancing bird formation – wow! Hope we get to identify them.
Thanks JoyNovember 23, 2014 at 4:32 pm #5116
brucebParticipantI think what we saw might have been knots. Here is a link to a RSPB site that describes their behaviour exactly as we saw it. http://www.rspb.org.uk/discoverandenjoynature/discoverandlearn/birdguide/name/k/knot/index.aspx Another possibility is sanderlings, which look very similar http://www.rspb.org.uk/discoverandenjoynature/discoverandlearn/birdguide/name/s/sanderling/index.aspx Here is a link to a very poor video which shows sanderlings behaving much as we saw them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypoeXqCdBls. Perhaps if Joy good some good pictures we can work out which (or something else!). Bruce

Joy AshfordParticipantThanks for the links Bruce. I have added photos on Face book https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.900100120007831&type=1.
At the moment I think they are Dunlin, but seeking advice from others.
Great day on the water. Thanks to all.

Joy AshfordParticipantMy birding contact seems to think they were Dunlin. So I will stick to Dunlin at the moment, unless I’m convinced otherwise.
