Just a reminder that this weekend the club is due to run the summer camping trip, largely at Banjo’s (a dedicated camper) instigation.

The plan is to depart Mountbatten on Saturday morning and stop somewhere for lunch prior to paddling to our overnight spot, with a similar plan for Sunday in reverse (no it’s OK, you can paddle forwards!) You will need to bring a couple of lunches, dinner, bed and breakfast. All the usual sea kayaking kit is required plus tent, sleeping bag, change of clothes, toothbrush, something to cook on, fresh water etc. etc. There will not be access to shops for those last-minute essentials that you left behind, nor fresh water, nor overnight facilities.
The distance each day will be about 21 km.

If anybody has not done any sea kayak camping previously, I am happy to help with a packing list and advice if needed. Remember that it has all got to go in the boat! Speaking of boats, club equipment will be available – speak to Equipment Officer Pete to book out a kayak.

It is still too far away to make a precise plan which will be weather dependent, so I will post further details later in the week. It would be good to know if you would like to come so, please let us know.

I’m sorry to say that due to the variabilities of the British summer this trip has been cancelled. There will be some wind, some sea, some rain and not a lot of sunshine and that isn’t quite what we had in mind. The plan was for fun with friends not endurance! Another time …..
