ParticipantI am running an overnight camp on Sat 29 – Sun 30 June, otherwise referred to as the later than Midsummer Camp.
The plan is to camp on a beach with no landward access between Portwrinkle and Downderry in Cornwall, grid ref SX438485. Where we launch from will depend on the weather forecast but will be either from Mount Batten or Hannafore Point by West Looe. The distance from Mount Batten is 13 miles each way and from Hannafore Point 7 miles each way.
There are no facilities on the beach so you will have to bring all your needs with you and be prepared to take out all your rubbish.
Club boats are available for this trip, please book them via me.
Whilst there are no limits on numbers it would be nice to have an indication of who is likely to attend this trip, so if you could let me know if you are considering coming I would be very grateful.
The cost? There is no cost so you can definitely afford it.

ParticipantThanks to Bob, the eagle eyed cartographer I have to amend the grid ref of our campsite to SX346539. Apparently the location of my original grid ref was somewhat damp.

ParticipantYou may have noticed that it’s a bit breezy at the moment but the forecast is for the winds to abate and by Saturday the weather should be quite pleasant. I’m hoping as well as the wind calming down the sea conditions should be fairly quiet by the time was get on the water as well.
So, my plan is to be on the water at Mount Batten at 10:00 on Saturday and to return after lunch on Sunday.
You will need to bring everything with you. That includes food, water, stove, tent, sleeping bag, clothes and beer etc.
You will also need to pack out all your rubbish.
Club boats are available for this trip. To book a club boat please contact equipment officer Pete Anderson via equipment@ppca-canoe-club.org.uk or 07958 694434.
I will check the forecast and post again on Friday to confirm these details. In the mean time if you have any questions please ask.

ParticipantStill looking good although the wind is forecast to pick up again on Sunday, we may make an early start for our return journey.
On the water at Mount Batten at 10:00 on Saturday.
