ParticipantHi all,
I am running the last river trip of the season this Sunday, 13 March.
You will have noticed that there was a lot of rain in the small hours of Wednesday morning but the in forecast is now bony dry, so the question is will there be enough water in the river for this trip to go ahead on Sunday? And the answer is “Who knows?”
I am going to take a leaf out of the Ken Hamblin School of river running and let the river gauge make my decision for me, so if the level drops below 0.56m on the Austin Bridge gauge I will call this trip off. https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/station/3216
I will watch the football on the telly on Saturday evening then let all you lovely people know the verdict once that has finished. (Or before if it’s a poor game).
In the mean time, this is supposed to be an intermediate trip. If it does go ahead we will run the Loop but with predicted levels anyone with any river experience at all will be most welcome.
As usual meet at B&Q ready to leave at 09:00, or 09:30 at the lay-by adjacent to Holne Weir.
This will be your last chance to paddle white water with the club until October.
Watch this space.

ParticipantWell boys and girls, the level at Austins Bridge this morning (Saturday) was 0.63m, so this trip will go ahead. This is a low level, I am expecting to collect the ingredients for rattlesnake soup accompanied by a cactus and tumbleweed salad, you may like to bring your waders.
Meet ready to leave B&Q at 09:00 or meet at the lay by adjacent to Holne Weir at 09:30. If you are intending to meet at Holne Weir can you either post here before 08:30 on Sunday or let me know on 01752 344425 please? If no-one turns up at B&Q I would like to know whether it’s worth the drive to Holne.
See the desperate ones among you tomorrow.
