ParticipantFollowing the success of last month’s intermediate sea kayak trip I am running another one this Saturday, 14 May.
The plan is to be on the water at Newton Ferrers at 10:00, paddle to Bugle Hole (grid SX601648) and back. With 4.3m high tide at approx 13:00 we may not be able to land at Bugle hole, in which case we will go on to Mothercombe. The total distance if we go to Mothercombe will be 16 miles, 14 if we can stop at Bugle Hole.
The grid ref of Newton Ferrers is SX539480, the postcode of the harbour masters office is PL8 1BN.
The weather forecast is dry with NE wind of 10 mph at 10:00, so conditions should be very friendly but please look at the forecast yourself on Friday to check that this is a trip for you.
Those wishing to use club boats please book them via equipment officer Pete Anderson, equipment@ppca-canoe-club.org.uk or 07958 694434. Also, if you are using club kit please let me know so that I can be at Mount Batten for you to collect it. (Ready to leave Mount Batten at 09:00. You will need transport).
See you on Saturday.

ParticipantI’ve had no calls to tell me that anyone wants club boats for this trip so see you all at Newton Ferrers.
Karen, there is every possibility that Bugle Hole will be wet, you may have to hold your breath for lunch. Some of us practiced holding our breath on Tuesday so we have a head start on you.
See you all tomorrow.

InactiveThanks for a great trip, Clive — a good stretch, lots of variety, occasional ‘interesting’ challenges — a perfect day out.

ParticipantThanks everyone for a splendid day out.
For those interested information about the beach cottage we looked at can be found at http://www.carswellcottages.com/holiday-cottages-south-devon-coast/the-beach-hut/ but don’t get carried away, 2 nights self catering costs between £650 – £850 , depending on the tie of year.
Suddenly wild camping in a tent Dartmoor sound remarkably attractive.
See some of you on Tuesday for some dampness.

InactiveWell planned and executed trip – thanks Clive and everyone who made the day good fun, especially Adam who showed off his surfing skills over the reef! Also a huge thanks to those who carried my boat up the steps at the end.
Maybe we should get a kitty together and book the cottage for next winter “wet” sessions and make a weekend of it. The hot tub would be great after cold water rescue practice. I wonder if they put a maximum occupancy rule on the place? Must be able to squeeze at least 10 in, bothy style!

Surely using the hot tub after the wet sessions would be a waste of a resource, why not run the wet sessions in the hot tub?
Just a thought.
