ParticipantHi all,
I’m running an intermediate sea kayak trip on Saturday 13 August. (This is in addition to the normal Saturday rec paddle, so you lucky people have a choice).
The weather looks good for a one way trip from Mount Batten to Bigbury but this brings logistical problems, hence this early notice.
We need to have a volunteer to meet us at Bigbury and transport people back to Mount Batten. (Approx 16:00).
We also need drivers to return to Bigbury to transport boats etc back to Mount Batten.
Needless to say this will be a long day out, be prepared not to get back early.
Can I ask that you let me know if you are intending to come along and what transport you will be able to provide please?
If you want to use club boats please book them via equipment officer Pete Anderson on either 07958 694434 or equipment@ppca-canoe-club.org.uk

InactiveI posted here yesterday but it seems to have been lost forever in the ether. I’ll be there. My wife Jane has offered to take drivers from Bigbury to Mount Batten in the afternoon (only costing me a few browny points). Weather forecast is looking good — light breeze behind us — and swell forecast is pretty much flat calm.

ParticipantShould have mentioned…
1) On the water at Mount Batten at 09:30
2) The total distance is approx. 14 miles, which is the same as last Saturday.

ParticipantHi Clive I would like to come on this paddle.
I could put the roof rack on my car, park it either at Mountbatten or park it at Bigbury if someone drives me there early in the morning.
As you know my banger is capable of accommodating 4 passengers, I suppose I could get 3 boats on my roof rack. It might fit 4x boats but then I would have to take off my J bars which I think have corroded onto my roof bars.

ParticipantThat’s great Jane
Unless things change leaving you car at Mount Batten would be best.
See you on Saturday.

ParticipantSo, the intrepid paddlers are:-
Clive & Joy Ashford, Bob Grose, Jane Seigne, Merryl Docker and Mark Porter.
Others are welcome to join us but you will need to sort out transport for yourselves and your boats back from Bigbury.
On the water at 09:30 please. Bring some dry bags and pack you dry clothes in your boat so that we can change at Bigbury.
Should be good

ParticipantI would like to give this a go if I can, assuming that there is no change (for the worse) in the forecast. I can get 2 sea kayaks on my car. Might be able to manage 3 at a pinch but 2 for sure. See you at MB tomorrow for 9.30 start.

ParticipantThanks for the paddle, Clive and the others in our select group. Particularly enjoyed the rock-hopping between the Erme and Bigbury.

InactiveFun, fun, fun — thanks for a brilliant trip, Clive. I think that’s probably the best rock-hopping trip I’ve been on — two good lengths of it between the Yealm and Stoke Point and between the Erme and Ayrmer Cove. Stunning, inaccessible cliff scenery that nobody but small boaters gets to see and nobody but kayakers gets to play among. Great company and good laughs too. What a privilege. More please.
