    Hi all,

I’m running an intermediate sea kayak trip on Saturday 19 May. According to the club calendar Terry is running a normal Saturday rec paddle on the same day.

At present it’s far too early to make any decisions as to where we will paddle but I would like to think that it will be away somewhere, quite possibly Cornwall.

Club boats are available for this trip but you would need to be able to transport them. To book a club boat please contact equipment officer Pete Anderson via equipment@ppca-canoe-club.org.uk or 07958 694434. Club boats will need to be collected on Friday evening, either at the start of the open boat session, (18:00) or at the end. (20:00.)

I will keep an eye on the forecast and will post more details on Thursday.

Well, the forecast for Saturday is good, light winds, calm seas and reasonably warm, so I am fully expecting a return of the beast from the east. However, I have a ghost that needs laying to rest so we will have another go at paddling from Crackington Haven. Hopefully 3rd time lucky for me.

We will meet at Crackington Haven car park at 10:00. For those needing help finding Crackington Haven the postcode is EX23 0JG. I will make a cunning plan as to where we will go between now and then.

The car park is £5 all day and you may well want to take extra money for ice creams and to purchase the wonderful “Based on Fact Too,” my latest book.

Just a reminder that club boats are available for this trip but you would need to be able to transport them. To book a club boat please contact equipment officer Pete Anderson via equipment@ppca-canoe-club.org.uk or 07958 694434. Club boats will need to be collected on Friday evening, either at the start of the open boat session, (18:00) or at the end. (20:00.)

See you adventurous types on Saturday.

Sounds good to me. Low levels of swell, surf and wind look perfect for exploring caves and coves, and the possibility of ice cream just adds to the potential delight. (Oh yes, and so does the book, of course…)
I’ll be driving via Plymouth, so would be happy to pick up a fellow paddler along the way if anyone’s interested in a car share. (And yes, I’m driving again — yippee!!). Let me know via this forum or 01803 849163.

Hope to be there. As a proud owner of the book, extra money for that is not required. An excellent book too. Articles are an ideal length for loo sessions. Well worth the money (and for the excellent writing too, of course).

Well, that was all very enjoyable wasn’t it? 13 miles of stunning sea kayaking that included caves, sea stacks arches and a whole bunch of seals.

You had to be there and 4 of us were.

The ice cream wasn’t bad either.

Clive, did someone enjoy a swim?

I certainly enjoyed mine! And I’ve discovered that a water filled cockpit gives just enough directional stability, when uprighted to float you in nicely to shore.

    Tony,

2 swimmers, 1 roller and 1 smug paddler who didn’t even get what’s left of his hair wet.

As the proud owner of little, but dry, hair, I’d like to say how much I enjoyed the trip, especially the wavy bit at the end.
We cracked Crackington Haven. Thanks for leading, Clive, and for good company, Bruce and Mike.

Yes great paddle. Very enjoyable. Even the swim at the end – quite refreshing.

The wet one (or one of the wet ones).
