ParticipantClub Xmas Paddle Saturday 19th December
It is nearly that time of year to dust off those white beards and red hats and make merry at the annual club Xmas paddle.
If you are thinking of coming along it is normal to wear something suitable to mark the Xmas occasion. It is also custom that we have a communal feast of savoury and sweet fayre. Please bring along a contribution of whatever you wish.
Weather permitting we will launch from Mount Batten at 10:30. Then have a short paddle and an extended lunch time and a short paddle back. This is more of a social occasion and the chance to meet up with your fellow club members.
Please post if you are intending coming along and also if you are bringing sweet or savoury.
See you all on the 19th December,
Terry ๐

KeymasterHi Terry. We would both love to but sadly both working. Will think of you all as each of us slaves away at the coal face. Boxing day may be another matter – great reason to get out of the house – if not too hungover, Adam

ParticipantHope to be there. Not sure about Susann. Probably not unless it is blazing sunshine. I am more tolerant of less than ideal weather. I’ll bring savory.

ParticipantLooking at the weather forecast for next Saturday (force 6 gusting 8, though I know forecasts can change), it shall be back to normal Winter Saturday weather, so probably no club paddle!
If traditions were more flexible Sunday as is often the case would be a better day to paddle from a wind perspective, but this won’t happen because Sunday is white water day for those so inclined. If this weather forecast is accurate, all is not lost!
HW shall be at 11:14 so I am intending on doing some rolling with sticks (though suspect everyone else uses the modern equivalent) outside of Mountbatten so hot shower are nearby in the event that one get cold.
Why not join me for some festive rolling? ๐กJane
ps. I am happy to let you use my Avataq to help with your rolling skills
(so whats an Avataq, at its most base level its a inflatable balloon with handles on it that you can hold onto to work on your hip flick or give you support while you are well off balance. For more info check out Reed Chillcheater website)December 13, 2015 at 7:48 pm #5726TerryC
ParticipantI started this post to ascertain the interest in a club Xmas paddle and to find out who is coming along and what food they are bringing.
I will make a decision on Friday evening if the weather conditions are unsuitable for a club paddle. The tide is favourable for a sheltered paddle somewhere depending on the wind direction.
If paddlers wish to make arrangements as to an alternative to the club Xmas paddle can they please use the Friends paddles page.

InactiveI shall be there with something savoury (from the “Road Kill” recipe book). I may do something sweet as well, I shall ponder on it!

InactiveThere’s a sheltered place at the end of the yard where the bins are kept (and who knows what one might find in a bin). I think young Chris Carter might be there. I shall make enquiries.

ParticipantI have held off making a decision until as late as possible if the Xmas paddle will be going ahead. With the weather now firmly settled for the weekend it will come as no surprise that the paddle is CANCELLED.
It is going to be a wet day with heavy rain and strong gale force wind at times. Not the weather for socialising on a beach eating and drinking ๐
If any paddlers want to come along to Mount Batten tomorrow for a festive mince pie and coffee a few of us are meeting up at 10:30. All welcome.
Merry Xmas to all in the PPCA ๐
Terry
Ps there is a short paddle planned for Boxing day from Mount Batten (weather permitting ha ha) details will be posted next week on the forum.

ParticipantShame, but not unexpected. The Santa outfit will have to wait for another year. Will try and make the coffee tomorrow. In any event Happy Christmas to all paddlers. Hope the New year brings some better weather.

ParticipantHi Terry and all good folk of the PPCA,
Some coffee and good cheer sounds just the thing to combat the gloomy forecast.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
