ParticipantClub Xmas paddle Sat 20th Dec
Well its a shame that the Xmas paddle was not today as it has been glorious weather.
The long range weather for next week is not looking great, strong winds but easing a bit for Saturday. We will meet at MB ready to paddle for 10:30 (note the later start).
The minimum dress requirement for this paddle (in addition to your normal paddling and safety gear) is a festive hat. The preferred costume is fancy dress above the spraydeck. We always have a communal picnic of festive fayre. Please post if you are intending coming along and what food you will be bringing, sweet or savoury.
I will post at the end of the week with an update. Fingers crossed for a decent weather window.

ParticipantI expect to be there. Susann hasn’t decided yet. I/we will bring something savory. Hope the weather is kind to us this year.

Let’s hope there are some sweet folk coming too!December 15, 2014 at 7:41 pm #5192Clive A
ParticipantJoy and I will be there.
The chef of this particular household is far too sour to produce anything sweet, so we also will be bringing something savoury.

ParticipantWell the weather has firmed up and its looking ok for the Club Xmas paddle, a bit of a NW breeze with the odd gust. The wind chill will be noticeable so wrap up well.
The plan is to be on the water around 10:30 ish and head over to the Hoe shore then paddle to Firestone bay for lunch on the beach. (out of the breeze).
If any injured or non paddlers wish to join us I aim to be on the beach around 12:00. The beach is the one below the Artilery Tower restaurant. Just let me know and bring some food to contribute to the feast.
This is a social occasion with a long lunch stop so please don’t expect a long paddle.
This year it is looking like being a quiet affair with not to much interest from the club members so far and a few of the regulars away.
See you all tomorrow for some fresh air, food and laughs before the Xmas break ๐ ๐ ๐

Probably see you next year somewhere, hope Santa brings you all what you want.
Best wishes

ParticipantWell what a grand day out that was. Many thanks to the club paddlers who turned out to support the annual PPCA club Xmas paddle and also to Mary and Dave who came on foot. The food was as always huge in quantity and very tasty and festive. Many thanks to everyone for contributing and making such an effort with the seasonal costume. Clive made an extra special effort this year with his humbug costume. The Elves looked fab as well. I think the prize for best dressed kayak goes to Jane for the light display.
A special thank you to Birgit for some post paddle accordian entertainment up in the bar.
Merry Xmas to everyone and a happy New year, see you out on the water in 2015.
