ParticipantThe forecast is a bit uncertain at the moment. At this time of year, the river levels are very sensitive to rainfall and ground water levels.
For the beginners trip we are likely to be paddling the lower Dart starting at Holne Weir and down to Buckfastleigh at the Salmons Leap Cafe car park. It is advisable to bring a drink and a snack along with you if you so wish, we may stop (or not). This is your opportunity to have a go at river (moving water) paddling. It does require some basic skills on the water to get the most out of it.
If the numbers (of more experienced paddlers) wanting to paddle the Loop are sufficient, then there could be an Intermediate Trip in parallel.
If you are coming along please meet at the Plympton Car Park near to the Coop end of the Ridgway at 0845 hrs ready to move off at 0900 hrs. Because of the restricted car parking spaces at the other end we try to car share. If you live nearer the river end please meet in the far end of the car park of the Salmons Leap Cafe at 0930 hrs which is just to the left of the turning off the A38 Buckfast turn off.
If it is your intention to join us would you please indicate here or (if you can’t) text me on 07966740025.
I will update this entry on Saturday at about 1800 hrs after checking the weather forecast and river levels etc
See you on Sunday 🙂

ParticipantPlease note.
With all the rain we are having, it is not certain that we will running the Lower Dart. We may choose a different river.
Also the river levels may be unsuitable for inexperienced river paddlers.
I will review the conditions tomorrow and post a notice tomorrow around 6pm.

ParticipantSharne,
I don’t think that we can provide a suitable trip for you this Sunday.
Apologies.

ParticipantAs you all have noticed, we had a LOT of rain yesterday! The rivers today are high and falling only slowly for now. The forecast for tonight is to have some more, although how much is a good question! For this reason, I am choosing to move the trip to the River Walkham which runs off much quicker that the Dart and needs more water generally.
As a result, I propose that we run an ‘Intermediate’ trip on the Walkham from Bedford Bridge near Horrabridge down to Denham Bridge on the Tavy. The river levels tomorrow are very likely to be unsuitable for this year’s ‘beginners’. Sorry guys.
If you are coming along please meet at the Plympton long stay Car Park near to the Co-op end of the Ridgeway at 0845 hrs ready to move off at 0900 hrs, or let me know your plans if different.
I don’t plan to make any more posts on this thread today.
