Hi all,
Kevin was down to run the river trip tomorrow, Sunday 23 October but, as you may have read elsewhere, Kevin has the dreaded Covid and doesn’t want to share it. So, instead of Kevin I am going to run tomorrow’s trip instead, ably assisted by the hugely entertaining Louis.
As things stand the level on the Dart is somewhat high but dropping fast. There is more rain forecast overnight so making a plan is a bit like predicting, well, something that is unpredictable. Here is the best plan that I can come up with.
Together with Louis we will aim to run a beginners trip somewhere. We will meet at the car park adjacent to the Co-op at the Ridgeway, Plympton, ready to leave at 08:00. Its an early start because this is the first weekend of the season where there has been any appreciable water and parking by the river is limited.
What we eventually end up doing totally depends on river levels and who actually turns up, and we won’t know the answer to either of those questions until the morning. So, unlike a normal river trip I can’t suggest a time or a place to meet for those that would prefer to meet at the river. I know this is a bit inconvenient but if you don’t go to Plympton in the morning then you won’t know where we are paddling. I’m sort of sorry, but only in the way that a dog owner is sorry when their dog is jumping up at me.
