Beginners river trip, Sunday 19 December.

Hi all,

I’m running the river trip this Sunday, 19 December. It goes without saying, but I’m going to say it anyway, that there has been no rain and that the river levels are low. My apologies to all you intermediate paddlers but with levels as they are there is no point in even pretending to run an intermediate trip.

I will make a decision about where to paddle tomorrow, (Saturday) and will post my decision then. We will run either the Lower Dart (Holne to Buckfast) or the Lower Lower Dart. (Buckfast to Staverton). In any event we will leave from the Co-op car park in Plympton at 08:00, or meet by the river at 08:30.

Canoes, otherwise known as open boats, are welcome on this trip on the understanding that I hold no canoeing qualification and can only provide safety cover. Canoeists will need to be of a suitable skill level and will need to provide their own boats etc.

So, until tomorrow….

The level at Austin’s bridge is 0’59 m. I have decided to run the Lower Lower Dart from Buckfast to Staverton. I’m going to call it a cactus hunt.
