ParticipantHi all,
I have the pleasure of running the beginners river trip this Sunday, 20 October.
Brim is running an open boat trip on the same day. If you prefer your frothy water to be slopping around in what is technically a canoe watch out for his post.
Predicting river levels is a bit of a dark art but assuming the forecast is right I am reasonably confident that this trip will go ahead on the Lower Dart.
We will meet at the Ridgeway Co-op car park ready to leave at 09:00. For those wishing to meet at the river be at Salmon Steps cafe car park at 09:30.
Parking all along the river Dart is limited. If you are going to meet at the river can I ask that you try and liaise with each other re sharing transport please.
Also can you let me know if you are intending to come along please.
That’s lots of “pleases.” Please take note and be equally polite.
I will post again on Sat evening to confirm.

ParticipantHi all,
As things stand no beginners have put their names down for this trip. Can I ask that if you are new to river paddling and that you are intending to come along on Sunday can you let me know please? If we have no beginners I may well decide to run a more interesting trip on Sunday, final decision tomorrow evening. (Saturday.)
Old grumpy has spoken.

ParticipantHi Clive, I CAN’t do this Sunday as going away to hit some table tennis balls.
Have a good one and I will be ready for next Sunday.

ParticipantHello Clive,
I wasn’t going to do the Beginners WW kayaking this weekend as Keta, Sharne and John are away on Sunday.
I was waiting to hear from Brim to see if beginners are allowed to try the Open Boat session this Sunday. However, if I’m the only one I’m more than happy to leave it for another time.
Please go ahead and plan something more exciting for all the adrenaline junkies!
Have fun.
Debbie

ParticipantI’ve had a text from Sean who can’t post here but is going to come along, so this will definitely be a beginners trip.
I like beginners trips, they make me look good.

ParticipantHi Clive. I should be there. Wash that nasty salt off from the beach clean.

ParticipantWell boys and girls, the river level is dropping away nicely and should be good for a beginners trip on the Lower Dart tomorrow, so this trip will go ahead as planned. Meet at Plympton Co-op car park ready to leave at 09:00, or at Salmon Steps Cafe car park at 09:30.
We will stop part way down the river for a break but as the forecast is for temperatures to struggle into double figures think “snack” rather than “picnic”. It would better to be warming up at the end of the trip than getting cold half way down.
Jon Seddon is going to come along (but can’t post here, there seems to be a theme). John lives in Ivybridge so if you are travelling from that area and are willing to put your number on here Jon will contact you. Alternatively let me know and I will pass your number on.
Gosh, isn’t life exciting?

ParticipantI am happy to run a ‘split’ trip and take a few on the Loop if there is sufficient demand/numbers and Clive has enough cover. Doug
