    Hi all,

I have the pleasure of running the river trip this Sunday, 20 October.

You will be aware that after last weekend’s storms things have calmed down and more importantly dried out. River levels have again become disappointingly low. This Sunday’s trip will be a beginners trip but I will decide where nearer the day.

I will make a decision on Saturday evening and post details then, in the mean time I can inform you that we will be meeting somewhere at 08:50 ready to leave at 09:00.

If you are intending to come it would be nice if you could let me know so that I can ensure we have enough helpers. This is especially relevant this weekend as Ken is away.

    Splish splash, bump scrape.

Since the Ogmore trip has been cancelled – not enough rain in Wales, imagine that! – I’ll be there on Sunday, as will Kimberly.

Hmmm, Austins Bridge gauge is showing 0.52 at 17:00 today. (Saturday). There is no need to tell you that that is low so whatever we do tomorrow I can promise rocks, more rocks and even more rocks. Excitement may be in short supply. (Selling it to you am I?)

My plan is to meet at Plympton Co-op car park at 08:50 ready to leave at 09:00. We will then go to the Salmon Steps Cafe at Buckfast and look at the river and decide which bit we are going to paddle. The choices are:-

    1) The Lower Dart from Holne to Buckfast.
    2) The lower lower Dart from Buckfast to Staverton.

The problem with the second option is that the traditional get out at Staverton has been closed so we will have to scramble up a bank some 250 yards (metres to the younger reader) downstream from this point and carry the boats to the cars. This is not my favoured option but levels may dictate.

If you intend meeting at the river then 09:30 at Salmon Steps cafe.

    See you desperados tomorrow.
