ParticipantHi all,
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Well, there is a fair bit of rain in the forecast for Thursday, so the question is will it actually come and if so will the river levels hold for Sunday? I have to confess that my crystal ball is a little un crystal like so your guess is as good a mine but, if there is enough water I shall be running a beginners trip and Ken will be running an intermediate trip on Sunday. We will all meet at the former B&Q car park at Plympton ready to leave at 09:00.
I will post on Saturday evening to confirm arrangements etc.
Open boats.
Club member who wish to come on the beginners trip in open boats are welcome on the understanding that they have had some previous white water open boat experience and can provide their own equipment. I hold no open boat qualifications and as such can only provide safety cover.Clive Ashford

ParticipantWell boys and girls, you will have noticed that the sky has made a large delivery of wet stuff today, I know because I went for a walk on the moors and rather a lot of it ended up on me.
Fingers crossed that the river levels manage to hold up for Sunday.
I will post again on Sat evening but in the mean time if you a thinking of coming along can I ask that you let me know, and tell me which trip you would want to attend please? Thanks.
Colin has already indicated that he would like to join either trip, so he gets the prize for being the keenest paddler. (Or maybe the most optimistic paddler). Jane H gets second prize.
Hopefully see you all on Sunday.

ParticipantWell boys and girls, it rained, the rivers came up, went down again and now are back to being low. Here is what I’ve decided.
Beginners trip.
This will go ahead either on the Lower dart or the lower Lower Dart, (the section from Buckfast to Staverton). I will make a decision when we look at the river at Buckfast in the morning. All paddlers are welcome on this trip as are open boaters.Ready to leave the former B&Q car park at Plympton at 09:00 or 09:30 in the cafe car park in Buckfast where we egress the Lower Dart. Wrap up warm.
If you are coming can you let me know please? Thanks.
Intermediate trip.
The level at 16:00 today was 0.54 on the Austin Bridge gauge. With just a few showers forecast overnight I don’t think there will be enough water to make this viable, therefore I am cancelling the intermediate trip once again. Boo hiss, very sorry.Clive A.

KeymasterHi Clive. Not seeing many takers for the beginners trip. Are you still planning on keeping it on? I’m willing to give it a go based on the last time but I guess the morning will reveal more. So should I look on here tomorrow?

ParticipantCompletely missed this post, did you go, what did you do and how were the levels please?

KeymasterHi Mark,
Yes five of us ran the Lower. Gauge said 0.55 and rising at 04:00 (but we didn’t see the rain that warranted that, so strange).
Levels were very much like when we ran the loop recently, so good for the Lower.
