ModeratorWell here we are at the beginning of the winter program of White Water trips for beginners and Intermediate paddlers. These are paddled on our local rivers which may include the Rivers Dart,Tamar, Barle or the Exe. This coming Sunday we will be paddling the Lower Dart so if you are interested in coming along please meet at the B & Q Car Park Marsh Mills ready to leave at 0900 hrs. The reason for this is to cut down the number of vehicles we take up there as the parking facilities are quite limited so we try to car share where possible. You will require your usual paddling kit which must include a Buoyancy aid and Helmet. Please remember this is a winter activity and whilst it has been pretty warm just recently it will get cold at sometime so be prepared and think about extra clothing under your water proofs. If you wish to borrow a kayak for these sessions please contact the equipment officer and arrange to pick one up before Sunday. If you have a problem with transport please say so on this forum and I am sure somebody will help out. Now to give us an idea as to how many people are interested in coming along please leave a note on this forum or give me a phone call. This is important so that we can make sure we have enough safety cover for everybody. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
Now having said all that, which I hope will give enough explanation for any beginners as to what is required for these trips, according to the local forecast last evening we have only had about 50% of the average amount of rainfall for this last month which has caused the river levels to drop quite considerably which means that if there is no rain and there isn’t any forecast, before Sunday this trip will not be on so my advice is probably plan something else. I will confirm this decision on Saturday evening. In the mean time keep enjoying this sunshine, you never know when we might see it again once the rains start!! If I don’t see you this weekend hope to see you soon. Plenty of rain next week so maybe next Sunday week.

KeymasterYes I was planning to give this a go this winter as an absolute beginner on fresh water. If off, the hedges will get trimmed.

KeymasterWell it hasn’t rained so I assume off. Lovely sea kayak paddle lead by Clive today making maximum use of great weather. What if I pop out to Dartmoor with a bucket of water? ๐

ModeratorSorry guys but as it is fairly obvious there hasn’t been any rain so I am afraid the trip will be off for tomorrow. For those of you who have put there names down as beginners on white water welcome and I am sure you will get the opportunity soon.
