The 10:30 rec paddle will be an away trip launching from the Yealm Steps in Newton Ferrers. The plan is to head out to sea after a short explore up one of the creeks, then paddle out past the Yealm mouth and head east along the coast for a short way and some coastline hugging. Lunch on one of the beaches along the way then over to the sandbar for a low spring tide around 13:00.
The weather is looking favourable, easterlies and small swell at the moment but if the wind and sea state pick up we may have to change plans back to Mount Batten. As this is an away trip we will aim to be on the water for 10:00. You need to be changed and ready to go for then.
Free car parking is along the road near the Yealm Steps and boats can be dropped off first by the steps. I have paddled from here several times recently and have had no problem parking.
I will not be organising any car sharing for this trip so you will need your own car and carry your own kayak.
Helmets will be required if we go close in to the coast. The weather has been a lot colder recently so please dress for the conditions and bring any safety equipment you may have.
I will be using my short general purpose kayak.
Please post if you wish to come along or have any questions, there will only be 5 places plus myself.
