The Port of Plymouth Canoeing Association (PPCA) is a friendly
club with the advantage of a fantastic location. The club
provides training and a full range of activities from gentle
paddles to white-water kayaking. Want to join a
thriving and active canoe club? The Port of Plymouth Canoeing

Charity Paddle & Club BBQ Sat 18th September
Charity Paddle in Aid of the Samaritans. Plymouth sound and
beyond paddle (12 miles approx). General purpose kayaks will
be used. Or if you wish to join in for a shorter paddle (2-3
miles approx). The annual club BBQ will also be taking place
on Mountbatten beach at approx 14:30. All club members are
welcome. Both of the charity paddles will start and finish
at Mountbatten, we will all stop at Mountbatten beach for
the club BBQ and then finish the paddle back to Mountbatten
as one group. More

Introductory courses for 2010
Introductory courses are run every month from April to September.
These courses offer the beginner the chance to try canoeing
and gain basic skills to 1* award in a friendly and safe environment.
The courses run through the summer months. More..
Tues Evening 2 & 3 Star Training
2 & 3 Star training for club members will commence on
Tuesday 13th April. Members need to have completed 1* award
to attend these sessions. More...
These sessions start promptly at 18:00, please ensure you
are changed & have all equipment ready to paddle by this
time. Assessments for both the 2 & 3 Star awards will
be programmed in throughout the season; details will be posted
in the club newsletter & on the club forum when dates
are known. If you have any questions regarding 2 or 3 Star
training please contact the Club Leader or the named coach
for the training session.
Open Boats (Friday eve)
Open boat evenings for club members will be starting on Friday
9th April. Start time is 18:00, changed & ready to paddle.
Open boat sessions are open to all club members not just the
regular Open boaters but anyone who wishes to have a go &
try this aspect of our sport. Due to the limited number of
club boats available you will probably have to double up with
another paddler. Any questions, please contact the Club Leader
or the named coach for the session.
Saturday Recreational Trips
These continue throughout the coming months with sea kayak
trips on the first Saturday of each month. The weather can
still be chilly so wrap up warm. See newsletter for details.
Club helpers
Help is always needed from club members on club sessions,
particularly in assisting the coaches on 1 Star courses &
Paddlepower sessions.
Starting this season all 'Club Helpers' will have to be
registered with the club before assisting on sessions. If
you want to put something back into your club & wish to
help out, please contact the Club Leader for more details
or see the topic on the club forum.

All of these events will be published in the newsletter and
in the calendar, so remember to keep checking, and keep paddling.
