White-water

PCA members have paddled white-water around the world: in Scotland, Wales, the Alps in France and Austria, Corsica, California, Nepal and Ecuador - and we still come back to paddle the local rivers.

The annual programme provides white-water trips and training every weekend through the winter on grade 2 and 3 water. The trips usually switch between the Middle Dart (The Loop), the Lower Dart and the Tamar in Devon.

Note: Local rivers are subject to access agreements limiting where and when they may be paddled. Please ensure that you get permission and meet the requirements of those agreements to preserve access.

The rivers

The Tamar (grade 2) from Horsebridge to Gunnislake, provides a safe straightforward environment for novices and those being introduced to white-water paddling (kayak or canoe). It is mostly flat, slow-moving water with the occasional rapid for interest. The section upstream of this from Greystone Bridge to Horsebridge (grade 2) also provides a pleasant trip.
